Bomber Flak Helmet M-5 US Army Air Force Pilot WWII
WWII US Army Air Force M-5 pattern bomber crew flak protection helmet. Manganese steel painted OD#7 with flock coating to prevent pilot's bare skin from freezing to it in the extremely low temperatures at high altitude. One size fits all. Leather chinstrap in excellent condition. Canvas and leather headband. A very rare helmet only produced between December 1944 and August 1945, period during which only 90.000 pieces will be produced against 200.000 for the previous M-3 type. Goggles, mask and display accessories aren't included.
