VMO-8 APH-5 USMC Pilot Flight Helmet & Oxygen Mask
US Marine Corps APH-5 flight helmet and oxygen mask set named to Lieutenant-Colonel William Beckner, Commanding Officer of VMO-8 (Marine Observation Squadron 8) circa 1966-69. Helmet has been modified with HARDMAN chromed receivers system for "christmas tree" fasteners, regulatory modification from 1961 on all APH-5 helmets (except some rotor wing aircrews). Working spring loaded visor knob. Originally adorned with unit colours and snake made of reflective tape. Complete with earphones, cord and jack. Leather covered pads. Tinted sliding visor. MS-22001 oxygen mask made by Sierra, size Medium, dated 1968 with REDAR hose and MC-3 connector. HARDMAN pattern hardshell named to the same pilot, Lt Col BECKNER, C.O of Marine Observation Squadron 8 flying on OV-10 Bronco. Superb patina for this fumlly matching set. Display is included.
