A-2 Painted Leather Flight Jacket Nose Art US Army 8th Air Force USAAF WWII
Regulation type A-2 leather flying jacket issued an 8th Air Force Bombardier belonging to the 93rd Combat Wing flying on B-17 Flying Fortress. The bombardier had his 35 missions with matching target painted on the back around a stenciled Pin-Up lying on her back. The missions are matching the 93rd Combat Wing bombing manifestos and especially the ones flown by the 490th and 493rd Bomb Groups between June and December 1944 :

On the right chest has been painted with silver paint a bombardier qualification badge. Size 38 with original label stitched below hanging tab. Made by POUGHKEEPSIE LEATHER COAT INC. Laundry number S6974 stamped on original lining. Traces of Lieutenant stitched ranks on shoulder straps. Missing zipper slider. Wear on sleeves and waist knitwear. Accessories aren't included. A beautiful piece of history and artifact reflecting the terrible missions flown by the iconic Mighty Eighth.
