German Luftwaffe Pilot Channel Flying Pants
Circa 1941-43 German Luftwaffe pilot "Channel" electrically heated flying trousers for high altitude and night ops. Blue grey cotton with blue velvet lining. Size IIb, RBNr (Reichsbetriebsnummerung) 0/0915/5232 maker code number (certainly matching KARL HEISLER in Berlin). This is the lower part of the two pieces "Channel Suit" (refering to the English Channel during the Battle of Britain). Numerous pouches and compartments for survival items as flares, rations, signal flag, mirror, etc...Leather tabs with snap connectors for connecting the boots and jacket. ELITE and RAPID zippers. Adjustable waist belt. These pants are often seen on period pics worn by fighter pilots matched with civilian cyclist leather jackets. Rare item, especially in this kind of condition with the electrical system uncut and all the pockets intact.
