A-4 US Army Air Force Bomber Aircrew Parachute
Rare A-4 "Yellow Group" complete parachute set with harness and parachute pack. the harness is an American adaptation of the Royal Air Force "Quick Release" observer parachute, developped in response for the need of an easier emergency releasing system for harnesses especially with the increasing number of aircrews forced to bail out over the English Channel and exposed to drowning. Harness is an IRVING manufacture dated June 1944, reference 44J9389 complete with "QUICK-RELEASE" bang box and safety key, zippered back pad and yellow marking to match the right parachute pack. The A-4 parachute pack (empty) has been manufactured by AMERICAN LADY CORSET, dated December 1944, complete with bungees, pull handle, log book and attachment rings. Lines are still attached to the rings. Issued to Army Air Force bomber aircrews as pilots, gunners, radios, flight engineers, etc... Iconic piece of flight gear which will enhance any 8th Air Force torso or mannequin display.
