WWII S-1 US Army Air Force Pilot Seat Parachute USAAF
Complete WWII US Army Air Force fighter or bomber pilot seat parachute and harness assembly type S-1. Made by PIONEER. Dated 1941. Complete harness with all its hooks and rings (stamps aren't legible). US Army early parachute pack made by PIONEER. Early pear shaped 38J4808 back pad (which can be modified for the B-1 survival kit). Rare early rubber seat cushion. Canopy is still originally folded inside. Totally original, all parts are named to the pilot "R.P CHARRON" and have been tacked with thread on the harness by the parachute riggers after having been adjusted to pilot's measures. Typical WWII fighter pilot or C-47, B-17 pilots and co-pilots flying gear. The famous 8th Air Force Ace Frances Gabreski can be seen equipped with the same type of early rubber seat cushion. The PIONEER log book is included (with all the inspections from March 1943 to December 1944 and also the Army Air Force emergency use of parachute guide.
