WWII US 8th Air Force Officer Pilot 1st Lt Tunic Jacket
B-17 bomber pilot 1st Lieutenant SILAS E. CLOUD (1921-1985), 8th Army Air Force, 305th Bomb Group, jacket,garrison hat, shirt and tie grouping. Jacket is US regulation made OD#51 wool twill, dated June 1944 made by KAHN TAILORING. 8th Air Force "British Made" embroidered cotton on wool shoulder patch. en coton brodé sur fond laine. Sterling clutch back (with sterling clutches) pilot qualification wings badge on blue ultramarine wool backing (serving overseas on combat flight duty in combat area or theater). Air Medal, EAME (European African Middle Eastern) campaign medal with two battle stars. Distinguished Unit Citation above right chest pocket. Gilt silver Army Air Corps winged propellers and U.S. lapel insignias. 1st Lt bullion shoulder rank bars. Fully originally fitted tunic. Also included are the OD#51 garrison hat, tie and pink shirt. Lt Cloud flew 29 missions in Europe and a few on B-17 #42-102608 "THE HEDGE HOPPER".
