1957 P-4A US Air Force Pilot Flight Helmet & Mask

Complete US Air Force fighter pilot helmet and oxygen mask set, circa 1957-59. The helmet is a P-4A model, size LARGE, manufactured by GENERAL TEXTILE MILLS INC. It features a tinted visor with a guide rail and spring loaded side hinges. The helmet is complete with its H-75 earphones mounted on spring-loaded brackets and a connector for the oxygen mask microphone, with a leather and nylon suspension. The original decal specific to this model is on the left side. The MINE SAFETY APPLIANCES model MS-22001/MBU-3/P oxygen mask, dated 1959, size MEDIUM, is equipped with a microphone. It has the specific 57B3661 connector for this model with three aluminum prongs which was later adopted on the MBU-5 from 1960 onward. Also included, the CRU-8/P oxygen connector for the parachute harness clamp. A beautiful, matching set with a superb patina. The display stand is included.
