Circa 1959 P-4B type flight helmet, size LARGE, made by CONSOLIDATED CONTROL CORP. Tinted visor with guiding rail. Visor has been cut by regulation to match the Hardman hardshell's shape. Helmet is complete with H-149 headset, leather and nylon suspension and oxygen mask's microphone plug on the left side. The helmet has been camouflaged in Olive Drab Federal Standard 34087 color and a special rigger made visor cover has been made from parachute canopy material. Excellent condition. This is the first version with the chrome Hardman receivers which will be superseded by the cast aluminium ones for the new MBU-5 serie oxygen masks. The P-4B flight helmet is the last of the P series, produced during year 1959 and will be superseded by the HGU-2 as soon as 1960. This is a real P-4B, not a P-4A modified to P-4B specs, hence the fact that there is no rubber plug-filled hole at the back of the shell. Also included is the matching 1956 dated early MBU-3/P size LARGE with HARDMAN hard shell and "christmas trees" bayonets. Superb matching set. Very early Vietnam War, might be a B-52 or RF-101 Voodoo unit issued set. Voodoo missions over Laos started as early as 1960. Carrying bag and display bust are included.
