Rare US Air Force test pilot flight helmet and oxygen mask set, circa 1958-62. Helmet made by Protection Inc. type Toptex 3BM, size MEDIUM. Original tinted visor, specific rail and locking system. Helmet is complete with avionics. MS-22001 oxygen mask made by MSA (Mine Safety Appliances), dated 1957, size MEDIUM complete with avionics. Liner and edgeroll are covered with natural leather. The helmet is in mint condition. The mask is fitted with a grey hardshell (often seen on tptex helmets original sets) and christmas-trees fasteners for chromed Hardman receivers. Superb exemple of this iconic helmet in its best look with the Hardman set-up. These helmet were issued to US Air Force and aeronautical companies test pilots from the early 50's to the late 80's. A well know photograph of test pilot Fitz Fulton shows him wearing the very same helmet while testing the B-58 Hustler. Display is included.
