US Navy pilot helmet and oxygen mask set, circa 1967–68 (featuring a three-piece polystyrene liner and plastic visor cover). Model APH-6A helmet, size Large, manufactured by GENTEX; includes a single tinted sliding visor with a locking knob, leather-covered pads, earphones, cord, and plug. Model A13-A (MS-22001) oxygen mask, manufactured by SIERRA (latex), dated 1974, size Small, with microphone. Hardman hard shell with "butterfly" fasteners. MC-3A oxygen connector. Superb condition. The set is a perfectly matched assembly, representative of the gear worn by carrier-based pilots and aircrews during the Vietnam War. The helmet features regulation reflective tape application and is identical in appearance to the one depicted by artist Lou Nolan in a 1967 US Navy promotional advertisement. The original cardboard advertisement is also included.
