Camo HGU-26 USAF US Air Force Pilot Flight Helmet

Set including a HGU-26/P flight helmet and matching MBU-5/P oxygen mask circa 1975-80 issued to Colonel Bereschak, 193rd Tactical Electronic Warfare Group commander, flying EC-130 Commando Solo. The HGU-26/P helmet is complete with avionics (earphones, com cord and side plug for oxygen mask's microphone connection). Twin visors clear and tinted. The visors cover and helmet shell have been regulatory covered with woodland camo tape by the US Air Force Life Support teams. Size MEDIUM. Leather covered foam absorber pads. The oxygen mask made by SIERRA is a MBU-5/P size REGULAR/WIDE, dated from the 1st trimester 1974, complete with microphone, cable and jack. These masks are now difficult to source in good condition because of their hardshell's extremely fragile nature. Contrary to popular belief, these helmets camouflaged with adhesive sheets weren't issued during the Vietnam era but just after, a telltale being the offset bayonet receivers (from 1975 on). Typical of A-10 Thunderbolts, F-4 Phantom, Corsair II or B-52 pilots of this era. The set is sold with the display head and the matching carrying bag named to the pilot.
