A-8 US Army Air Force Bomber ELGIN Stopwatch
Regulation US Army Air Force bomber aircrew type A-8 stopwatch, made by ELGIN, circa 1942. These pocket stopwatches were designed for timing ground speed meters for determing the velocity of aircraft relative to the ground. Continuous running movement with one sweep hand. One revolution of the hand was equivalent to 10 seconds. The case is engraved on the back A-8 SPEC. NO. 94-27749 SER. NO.AC-42-35739 MFRS PART NO 1778 ORD. NO. W535AC-28071. With part of the original box. Perfect item to complete a bomber aircrew briefcase or mannequin display. Excellent working condition.
