Helicopter pilot's flight suit (shirt and trousers) from the Airmobile, made of flame-retardant Nomex-type material. Dated 1971. Size Medium Regular. Features a regulation-made US Army pilot's wings, embroidered name tape and US ARMY band, 1st Aviation Brigade patch on the right shoulder, and ARADCOM (Army Air Defense Command) patch on the left shoulder. The cotton embroidered 1st Lt. rank and generic Artillery insignias are stitched on the collar points. Helmet, belt, and vest are not included. Like all US Army units, the Army Air Defense Command had to provide personnel who were assigned to various units, including the 1st Aviation Brigade, to address the personnel shortage caused by the unexpected prolongation of the war and the growing pacifist sentiment of the early 1970s, which discouraged volunteers.
