WWII US AN-J3A Pilot Leather Flying Jacket Size 40

Extremely rare US Navy AN-J-3A jacket, produced in 1943 by Burjac Sportswear Inc., US Navy contract N288s-24369. Goatskin leather, two patch pockets, one inside pocket, gussets, knitted cuffs and hem in very good condition. Original blackened brass TALON zipper. Sheepskin collar. US size 40 (Euro 50). This jacket was designed as a successor to the A-2 model and was intended for distribution under the joint production project between the Army Air Force and the US Navy, designated AN (Army Navy). However, it was ultimately used only by the US Navy, with a few rare examples like this one by the Army Air Corps. Awarded to James Harry Jeanes, who served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was awarded the Bronze Star during the Battle of Iwo Jima.
