LPA-2 life preserver and SV-2B survival vest set. Late 1970s era. Complete with inflation bladders and triggers. Also included are the dye-marker and flares pouches (empty) and the MX-991/U angled flashlight. The SV-2B survival vest is in its original configuration with all its pockets, survival knife sheath, holster (revolver not included) and uncut straps. Before being replaced in the early 1980s by the LPU models, these life preservers were all visually identical for pilots of aircraft equipped with or without ejection seats. The only difference laying internally, with the addition of the FL-8/P module, which automatically inflates in seawater. This type of life jacket and survival vest can be used with an MA-2 torso harness for ejection seat equipped aircrafts or worn on its own by pilots and crews of helicopters or patrol aircraft.
