WWII US Army Air Force Fighter Pilot Seat Parachute
Circa 1942 US Army Air Force and Navy fighter or bomber pilot seat parachute and harness assembly type S-1. 42G2012 harness made by RELIANCE MFG CO. AN-6510-1 parachute pack (for white 24 feet canopies) made by RELIANCE MFG CO. Rare survival back pad ref 38J5271 (1938 introduced Army Air Corps type superseded by the B-2 from 1943 on), complete with working side zipper and inner padded felt container for survival items (like the V-44/N°18 survival knife). Rare early black rubber pneumatic seat cushion in excellent condition. Log book matching the parachute with entries from 1942 to October 1943. Canopy is still originally folded inside, with US seals. It's becoming now really difficult to find early parachutes which haven't been updated with the later back pad and seat cushion. Typical WWII fighter pilot or C-47, B-17 pilots and co-pilots flying gear. The S-1 seat parachute has been produced from the late 1930's to the year 1944 before being superseded by the S-5 with Irving quick release buckle from 1944 on.
