Complete US Navy or US Marine Corps pilot harness and life preserver set. Harness is a model MA-2, manufactured by PIONEER PARACHUTE CO. Early 1970s production. Size LARGE REGULAR. Complete with all original KOCH buckles at the shoulders and waist. TALON zipper. V-shaped extraction ring doubled with a regulation 1970-dated carabiner to facilitate the passage of the extraction cable hook (later replaced directly by a larger carabiner from the mid-1970s). The integrated vest has been modified by Aircrew Survival Equipmentmen to make the harness more comfortable by removing the lower material. A pouch for storing survival gear has been added directly to the right side of the harness vest. A distress light mount has also been added to the right shoulder (SDU-5 strobe light included, early model & period matching, original to the harness). The life vest is a LPA-2 model dated 1970, complete with its bladder and two inflation valves. These sets were worn by F-8 Crusader, F-4 Phantom, A-4 Skyhawk, A-6 Intruder, RA5C Vigilante and some versions of the A-1 Skyraider aircrews.
