1944 US Army Air Force Pilot WWII B-8 Back Parachute
WWII US Army Air Force fighter or bomber pilot B-8 type back parachute, complete with original canopy. Early bayonet fasteners type harness made by AMERICAN LADY CORSET CO. dated MAY 44. Back pad assembly also dated MAY 1944. Rare item, typical of 8th Air Force P-51 or P-47 fighter pilots. These parachutes were also issued to B-24 or B-26 pilots as can be seen on numerous period pics. A difficult to find piece of flying equipment, still in its WWII configuration without later modifications made for Korean War.
