Instruction booklet for the US Army helicopter pilot's helmet, model SPH-4, original Vietnam period edition. This is the manual for the first pattern (1969-1974). Later editions will see the cover illustration modified as well as some chapters (new double-snap chinstrap, etc...). 20 pages. Dimensions 156 mm X 118 mm.
Designed for a better sound protection, hence the SP letters, the SPH-4 didn't provide no more impact protection than the previous APH-5 series. An iconic period equipment of the helicopter crews during Vietnam war. Excellent condition.
