1960 USAF HGU-2/P Flight Helmet + Oxygen Mask
1959-60 US Air Force HGU-2/P jet pilot flight helmet, size MEDIUM, single tinted visor, fiberglass visor housing with metal rail. Made by CONSOLIDATED COMPONENTS COR. Blue push button type securing knob (as found on navy APH-5's). Regulatory modified with cast aluminium oxygen mask bayonet receivers instead of leather tabs. Alcantara covered cushion pads. H-149 AIC headset and side plug to connect oxygen mask's avionics. The set includes a matching 1961 dated MBU-5/P oxygen mask made by General Tyre, complete with microphone, cable and jack, size REGULAR-NARROW with straight bayonets. Display is included. This is the first modern US Air Force helmet with integrated visor which will remain in service until the mid-80's with few changes as the the HGU-2A/P. Early HGU-2's with the visor's securing push button still in place are pretty scarce as most helmets have been modified in the field with the more user friendly screw type knob.
