Strategic Air Command HGU-9 Bill Jack Scientific Instruments Co flight helmet, complete with avionics and specific liner. Rare original visor. Special nuclear flash goggles with original case and extension strap. Matching MBU-5 oxygen mask, size LONG-NARROW, dated 1962 made by GENERAL TYRE with straight bayonet fasteners. Display head included. Very rare item. These helmets were developed as a cooler and lighter alternative to the then ageing P-4 helmet or newly issued HGU-2/P for long transatlantic missions with the USSR as a final target. Used with Nuclear Bomber aircrafts as the B-52 Stratofortress and B-58 Hustler.
